Having never watched Conan’s show before, one of my Irish acquaintances posted this video on LinkedIn, from the Irish American Heritage Center (Centre?) . . .
Decent video featuring Taytos, a lady named Maureen, and dancing.
Think I’ll pay a visit.
*ethnomusicology note (yes, stop reading here): Irish step dancers in Ireland usually DO move their arms. In the short barely-two-years I took Irish dance classes, we learned: ARMS PINNED TO THE SIDE. There are very big cultural/sociopolitical reasons for that result in there being two different styles. This was – all joking aside – a hotly debated topic in my Masters classes, especially because one of my classmates was an Irish step dancing champion.
